Special Events & Field Trips
Montecito offers many exciting special events and field trips every year. We believe that these activities enhance children's social and emotional growth and development and provide opportunities for families and classmates to build community.
Special Events include the Halloween and Holiday Sings, the Harvest Festival, Parent Visiting Days, End of the Year Campus Picnics, and Twilight Time.
Some of these events, such as Parent Visiting Days, the Campus Sings and our Campus Picnics, take place in the individual classrooms following an entertaining show involving the entire school. These fun classroom parties and events are offered as part of your child’s school experience and are a way for your children to share their classroom and friends with you and other family members. We also offer campus events such as the Harvest Festival in the fall and Twilight Time in the summer. These are 3-hour events where your friends and family can come to enjoy activities, dinner for the family, arts and crafts, relay races and other games, pony rides, a mini petting zoo, a scavenger hunt, and much, much more! We charge admission for these events, and anyone can come and join in the carnival and family fun. Call us to learn more about our upcoming campus events, or take a look at our school calendar under What We Offer/Calendar. We believe that field trips enhance and extend the child’s classroom experience and promote independence and a sense of adventure. We provide two types of field trips. The first are classroom field trips, which require the participation of one parent or designated caregiver to come with the child during the trip. For these trips, we charge a small entrance fee paid prior to the field trip for each attendee. Classroom field trips include a trip and tour at the pumpkin patch, Hidden Villa, plays at the California Theatre Center in Sunnyvale, and other fun outings with your child’s class. The second type of field trips are school-wide field trips, also offered throughout each school year. Montecito charges a fee for these trips that includes the transportation (a big yellow school bus), lunch and a snack, staffing costs and entrance fees. Some school-wide field trips include a day at the San Francisco Zoo, the De Anza Planetarium, and Redwood Grove in Los Altos.
