Parent Staff Relations
Teachers try to maintain a close personal contact with parents in order to effectively meet the needs and share the growth of each child.
This requires a united effort by teachers and parents. Teachers will, from time to time, send home brief notes, comments or observations. Teachers are always willing to discuss any problems or concerns after hours by phone or at school by appointment. We ask that you not try to engage in a lengthy conversation with them during arrival or departure times since this will significantly impact the flow of traffic. Parents are always welcome to visit as long as they clear it with their child’s teachers first.

  • Parents will receive monthly Newsletters.
  • Parents will receive classroom Newsletters periodically.
  • Phone conferences for all children will be held in the fall.
  • Parents of children in the two and three year old classes will receive a second conference in the spring.
  • Parents of children in the four-year-old classes will have a face to face conference in Jan. and Feb. Prior to the conferences, the teachers of the four-year-olds will be doing an assessment of the children todetermine their readiness for kindergarten. The results of the assessment as well as any concerns of the parents will be discussed at the conference.
  • Parents are encouraged to volunteer as Reading Parents. Reading parents come to read books chosen by their child.
  • Parents should communicate to us in writing or by phone of any events that staff need to be aware of: for example, a death in the family, the child didnít have much rest the night before, changes at home.
  • We encourage parent feedback. If you have any concerns, please let us know.
