Montecito Teaching Philosophy

At Montecito children thrive in a unique setting built especially for them, one that supports discovery, independence and social interaction.

We believe that every child is competent and innately motivated to learn. Play sets the stage and provides the medium through which the children may imitate, explore, test ideas, acquire information and draw conclusions.

Children develop their intellectual competencies which will promote academic learning through meaningful, hands-on, self-directed and teacher-facilitated activities.

We model respectful social interactions and help children develop their social/emotional and language skills, thus building a strong foundation to become a successful member of the community.

Montecito Parent Advisory Board

At Montecito children thrive in a unique setting built especially for them, one that supports discovery, independence and social interaction.  The Parent Advisory Board is a shared governance group to coordinate three types of activities on behalf of Montecito School within the school’s mission statement:

  1. Home-school connections
  2. Public relations and marketing activities in the community
  3. Parent involvement in campus-wide events

The Parent Advisory Board has 3-4 representatives from 3 groups, to represent all school stakeholders: Parents, Teachers and Administrators.  We have formed this Board and have been successfully meeting every month and offering parents volunteer opportunities in the classroom and school-wide committees -- So that we can serve the community's needs (and each child's) better than ever before! Please contact the Director if you are interested in serving on this Board for next year, or if you are interested in any of the committees or volunteer opportunities.
