Emergency Preparedness
We have spent a great deal of time, energy and money to arrive at the best emergency plan we can devise.
With eighty-six young children on campus at any one time, the greatest problems in case of emergency are injury and fear. At least two full time staff members will maintain current CPR and first aid training at all times. We believe that the more we know, the calmer and more helpful we can be to our children.
Montecito Preschool staff members are committed to remaining on campus until all children are picked up. We have two evacuation points in the event that we must leave our campus. If we have to evacuate, someone will remain on campus to direct parents and other emergency pick-up persons to where the children are waiting. Your yellow emergency card is an integral part of the plan. It will be pinned to your child's shirt. Your instructions as to persons authorized to take your child will be strictly followed. When regular communication services are interrupted, it is essential that your designated emergency persons come to Montecito Preschool as quickly as possible—for the children's physical and emotional well being. Our standard procedures include safety drills, teaching children to listen to and follow their teachers. At all times emergency supplies are maintained. These include food, water, thermal blankets, battery radios and lights, extensive first aid supplies, and chemical portable potties. In the event that an emergency occurs during school hours, be assured that we will do our utmost for the safety and well being of all of the children entrusted in our care.
