Language and Movement Classes

Throughout the school year we offer on-site language and movement classes to children who wish to learn a second language (such as Mandarin or Spanish) or who want to develop movement and motor skills (such as Little Hoopers Basketball or DanceKids).  These classes support our philosophy of learning through self-directed play and can be selected as add-on activities to our program.  Little Hoopers Spring Session     Mandarin Classes Spring 2013 Session

Classroom Field Trips
Montecito School is a strong proponent of direct, hands-on learning experiences with access to the real world.  Field trips for each classroom are planned annually to visit our surrounding community.  A few examples include a local pumpkin patch, Hidden Villa Ranch, California Theatre Center, Cal Train, and/or a local bakery or store.  Parents attend all of the Classroom Field trips along with their child and transport their child to and from the field trip.

  School-Wide Field trips
We also offer school-wide field trips for any child to attend.  We travel with children to the SF Zoo, Happy Hollow, The Planetarium or a nature walk in Sanborn Park.  These school-wide field trips are staffed by our Director and our Teachers.  Children are transported to these field trip locations by a professional bus service and supervised by our staff, maintaining a 1:6 or better ratio in each group.  Happy Hollow on May 9th

Family Evening Festivals

Evening Festivals called Harvest Festival (in October) and Twilight Time (in July) are held on our campus and are open to Montecito families and to the public to attend.  We invite family and friends during the calmer, early evening hours to enjoy hands-on activities, food and entertainment for all ages.  We offer games, music, pony rides, science, art, physical play opportunities, food for the whole family, and animal visits at a relaxed pace for everyone to enjoy.
